"Contested Sites of Memory: A Performance with Artist Carrie Mae Weems" was a multimedia performance blending live music, spoken word, and video to spark dialogue around monuments, memory, and racial healing.

For this performance Carrie Mae Weems collaborated with the Richmond-based choir Destiny One, and with nationally celebrated musicians Nona Hendryx, Jawwaad Taylor, and Craig Harris. Additional performers included poets/writers Carl Hancock Rux and Esther Armah.

Presented to coincide with E Pluribus Unum’s special convening of racial healing, Shore Art Advisory produced "Contested Sites of Memory" in partnership with the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University and the Emerson Collective.
